Jiribam, June 10 2026:
The Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA), Jiribam District Council has warned of launching an intensified agitation if the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) centre in Jiribam is not made functional within this month.
Addressing a press conference held at the KSA Jiribam office on Wednesday, KSA Jiribam District Council president K Somorjit Singh expressed concern over the prolonged delay in completing the construction of the DIET building and the failure to deploy adequate staff for its operation.
He stated that the student body and other organisations have been consistently pursuing the matter with the authorities.
A memorandum had earlier been submitted to the Governor seeking the establishment and functioning of the DIET centre in the district.
Subsequently, representatives also held discussions with the Director of DIET, who assured them that staff would be appointed and the institute would begin functioning soon.
K Somorjit urged the concerned authorities to expedite the completion of the building works, appoint the required staff and ensure that the DIET centre starts functioning within this month.
He cautioned that if no concrete action is taken within the stipulated period, the organisations would be compelled to launch an intense form of agitation.
The press conference was attended by MSF Jiribam District Committee general secretary A Robert, DESAM District Council president Th Santosh, KSA Jiribam District Council president K Somorjit Singh and SUK Jiribam District Committee president M Nirmal, among others.
