69th Nupi Lal Ningsing Thouram held at Kanto Khullen

Imphal, December 09 2025: The 69th Nupi Lal Ningsing Thouram was observed today at Kanto Khullen Awang Leikai Community Hall under the initiative of the All Manipur Nupi Marup, as part of its ongoing month-long commemoration.

According to a release issued by the All Manipur Nupi Lup, the event drew around 300 attendees, including villagers from Kanto Awang Leikai, Makha Leikai, Loitang Khunou and internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the Mantop Yumpham relief camp.

During the programme, speakers and attendees raised several pressing concerns and collective demands.

Chief among them was the call for immediate restoration of peace and normalcy in the State.

The gathering also urged the Government to fulfil its assurance of resettling IDPs to their original homes by December, ensure free movement along national highways, and to remove buffer zones currently being enforced in various areas.

During the meeting, the IDPs expressed dissatisfaction over the Government providing only Rs 84 per day to IDPs, describing the amount as inadequate and ineffective.

They further objected to the proposed allocation of Rs 3 lakh for reconstruction of damaged homes, terming it insufficient and urging authorities to revise the support to a practical and realistic level.
