District-level Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan held at Kha Manipur College

Kakching, August 09 2026: A district-level Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) programme was organised at Kha Manipur College, Kakching, on Sunday to raise awareness about substance abuse and promote a drug-free society.

The programme was organised by Mera Yuva Bharat, Kakching, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with the NCC and NSS Units of Kha Manipur College.

Kha Manipur College principal Dr O Rudrababu Singh, District Youth Officer, Mera Yuva Bharat, Kakching, Vishal Dhakad, and former principal of the college Yengkhom Raju Singh attended the programme as presidium members.

As part of the programme, district-level competitions were conducted in dance, music, slam poetry, slogan writing, one-act play, painting and debate.

In the competitions, Tanem Morio Maring secured first position in music, while Leishangthem Anjali Chanu and Nongmaithem Vladimir bagged the first and second positions respectively in dance.

Nongthombam Bidyasagori Devi and Leishangthem Harison Singh secured first and second positions in slogan writing.

Mayangbam Avinash stood first in one-act play, while Yendrembam Mona Devi and Shagolsem Eliya Devi secured first and second positions respectively in painting.

Nongmaithem Priyadarshini and Staneviya Yumnam Chanu secured first and second positions in slam poetry, while Moirangthem Randeep Singh emerged first in debate.

Certificates and mementoes were distributed to the winners at the conclusion of the programme.

The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment launched on August 15, 2020, to address substance abuse through awareness, prevention, counselling, treatment, rehabilitation and social reintegration.

The campaign, initially launched in 272 vulnerable districts, has since been extended across the country, with a particular focus on youth, women, children, educational institutions and communities through a whole-of-society approach towards building a drug-free India.
