Imphal, December 08 2009: The outlawed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) asserted that there is no implication of the individual rights guaranteed by Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Manipur where there is no right to life.

Sharing its view on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted on December 10, 1948 in connection with the observance of the International Human Rights Day on December 10, a statement issued by the outfit's publicity secretary, T Leishemba observed that the declaration of the rights is classified into two categories � individual and collective rights.

There have been many provisions in the individual rights category which guarantee various freedom like, right to free movement, freedom of speech, rights to form association, right to equality, right to education, freedom of religion, and right to believe and faith.

However, in Manipur where there is heavy deployment of security and where there is no right to life, all the individual rights guaranteed by the declaration have no implication.

There is no end to extra-judicial killings under draconian laws like the AFSPA, 1958, it stated.

It observed that self determination of the people would contribute in the political and economical development of the land.

This is incorporated in the UN General Assembly declaration in 1948 and the same has been passed and endorsed by the ICSR and ICCPR convents.

The matter is passed following the resolution adopted by the General Assembly of the UN vide its resolution 2200A (XXI) on December 16, 1966 .

The issue was affirmed by a meeting of various countries of the world during a meeting at Vienna in June 1993.As such, India has also passed the 'Human Rights Bill' in the Parliament on December 22, 1993, the statement asserted.

In order to ensure the protection of human rights in India, a human right commission was constituted.

On October 14, 1997, India became a signatory to the Convention against Terror under Cruel Inhumane Degrading or Punishment.

This indicated that India should not violate the rights of its citizens as it is also a signatory state to the International conventions against rights violation.

The statement observed that the Indian government and its security forces have violated various rights of the people in Manipur.

Ignoring the rule of war, the security forces have unleashed all forms of rights violation including fake encounter killings and violation of women's rights, forcible disappearance, torturing, and booking democratic protestors under NSA.

These have been committed as a routine works.

The Indian government also continues to portray the people's movement of Manipur as that of terrorism to the world.

It noted that state terrorism has been unleashed on the other hand.

Nevertheless, the liberation movement of Manipur will go on as the movement is endorsed by all people around the world and is launched in accordance with International law.

It urged all concerned to pledge collectively for the strengthening of the liberation movement on the occasion of International Human Rights Day on December 10.It stated that the movement is mass based and a political struggle with ideology.
