ITSL celebrates raising day

The Imphal Tangkhul Shanao Long (ITSL) celebrated the 6th Raising Day cum Sales of Indigenous Food Items and Traditional Attires at Tribal Research Institute, Chingmeirong today.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam visited the stalls opened at the celebration.
Senapati DC Jacintha Lazarus Chiphang and Conservator of Forest, Eastern Circle, Soreiphy Vashum also attended the function.
ITSL secretary Themmila Shanglai said that the Tangkhul Food Festival is organised at the State capital every three years.
She said that the people of Tangkhul community, who are residing in Imphal, have forgotten their indigenous food.
As such, the festival would enable them to taste their indigenous food, she added.
Traditional tug of war competition for Tangkhul women and other indigenous games like 'Laasem Kapa', 'Thingneira Khangakhun' and talent shows were held as parts of the celebration.
Many delicious indigenous cuisines were offered at the event.
