Students to shut down govt colleges from today

Frustrated over the cease work strike of the college teachers in demand of UGC pay scale, education deprived students of the government colleges of the state today in a joint meeting resolved to shut down all the government colleges in the state and barred the teachers from entering college campuses from August 9 onwards.
The meeting also resolved to intensify its stir if the talk between the Federation of College Teachers' Association Manipur (FECTAM) and the state government scheduled to be held on August 10 fail to draw an amicable solution to end the cease work strike of FECTAM.
Later in a press release held at GP Women's College Imphal, spokesperson of the students unions of different college told reporters that the ongoing cease work strike of the college teachers under the aegis of FECTAM has led to the deprivation of education for students of the state.
Since semester system has been introduced in the colleges, cease work strike of the teachers affects the students in their education very largely as semester exams are held every four months.
