Students' Union demands immediate charge handover by former Principal

Imphal, July 08 2026: The Sagolmang Higher Secondary School Students' Union has urged the concerned authorities to intervene immediately and ensure the newly posted Principal assumes charge, warning of intensified agitation if the issue is not resolved.

Addressing the media along with members of the School Management Development Committee and the Students' Union, Union general secretary Konthoujam Loyumba said that while P Omita was posted as the new Principal on May 21 this year in place of G Thambalsana Kabui, the former Principal has not handed over charge till date.

Loyumba said that when students approached the new Principal with grievances, she informed them that she could not take up any official work as charge had not been handed over by the outgoing Principal.

"As a result, although a Principal is posted, the school is functioning as if there is none.

If this continues, academics and overall management of the school will suffer", he said.

He further warned that if the authority fails to resolve the matter soon, the union will be compelled to take up stringent measures including closure of the school.
