Imphal, November 06 2008: Along with the force headquarters at Delhi where many VVIPs would be attending, the 69th anniversary of CRPF would will also be celebrated at the 167 Bn here on November 7 .

Games and sports and other cultural programmes would be the main highlight of the celebration.

Raised in 1939 as Crown Representative Police, the force was renamed as Central Reserve Police Force in 1949 .

Since then it has become the largest paramilitary force in the world with a total of 202 battalion, second in-charge Commandant of 167 Bn CRPF J Majumdar said in a statement.

CRPF has also played vital rile in internal security of India, whether it be fighting the terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir, insurgency in North East, naxalism in Naxal affected State apart from maintaining law and order situation whenever required by the States, the statement added.
