CPI Local Council Conference demands NRC enforcement, peace in Manipur

The 45th conference of Uripok Local Council, Communist Party of India was held yesterday at the residence of Irengbam Norendraj it at Uripok Golapati Leirak.
As per a press release, L Somorjit Sharma presided over the conference along with CPI State secretary A Nabachandra, City District Council secretary Kh Brojendro; Uripok Local Council, CPI secretary S Gopeshwar and Marxist theoretician Th Yaiskul Singh as presidium members.
L Somorjit Sharma led the gathering in hoisting the CPI flag, followed by the offering of a floral tribute before the portrait of Jana Neta Irabot and other brave leaders.
Main resolutions passed at the conference include ensuring enforcement of NRC before the census exercise; restoring peace in Manipur; inclusion of the polling stations at Khulem Leikai, Laishram Leikai and some areas of Samushang under Uripok AC and demand for swift completion, of road construction works and sewage projects in the constituency.
A 14-member council was also constituted during yesterday's conference.
Office bearers will be appointed at the next conference.
Meanwhile, S Gopeshwar presented a 20-page political draft report and a 6-page draft organisation report which was discussed during the delegate session.
