Young actors perform 'Rani Gaidinliu', 'Nupi Lan', 'Tikendrajit' at workshop finale

Imphal, July 05 2026: The 30-day Children's Theatre Workshop jointly organised by Samvardhinee Nyas Sanskriti Kala Darshan, Manipur and National School of Drama, New Delhi concluded today at the Maharaja Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Compound.

The closing function featured felicitation of workshop directors and performances of plays prepared by students during the workshop.

The workshop was conducted for children aged 8 to 16 years.

For Central schools it ran from May 11 to June 9, while for State schools it was held from May 25 to June 25.Dr Sanabam Thaninleima served as workshop director.

Schools covered were: Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy, Nongmeibung; Wangkhei High School, Wangkhei; Meitei Mayek High School, Kongba Road; Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1, Lamphelpat; Praja High School, Lamsang; and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya, Uripok Lamboikhongnangkhong.

Students presented plays based on history and culture including "Rani Gaidinliu", "Nupi Lan", "Ahilyabai", "Tikendrajit", "Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose", and "Paona Brajabasi".

Dr Thaninleima said the workshop helped develop students' personalities, boosted communication skills, and exposed their talents.

She added that historybased dramas gave students better understanding of the state's heritage.

The function was attended by Joint Secretary, Higher & Technical Education Elangbam Sonia, and Principals of participating schools.
