Advocacy program of Van Dhan Vikas Kendra organised

An advocacy program of VDVKS (Van Dhan Vikas Kendra) for Keikao VDVK was held today at UBC, Community Hall in Tamenglong district.
The programme was graced by Chunglenmang Kipgen, MCS, ADM Tamenglong and Kh Hitler Singh MFS, DFO Tamenglong as the chief guest and president respectively while Joel Gangmei RFO Tamenglong attended as the resource person.
Speaking as the chief guest Chunglenmang Kipgen advised the Self Help Group (SHG) members to sincerely carry out the responsibility of helping themselves with the support extended by the Forest Department.
In the presidential address, Kh Hitler Singh appealed to the gathering to learn new skills for value addition to the agro-forestry products such as ginger, garlic, bamboo shoots, king chilly, gooseberries etc for export to other States in the country and even to foreign countries.
He further assured to provide help in training for packaging and marketing.
The Van Dhan Vikas Kendras Karyakram is a Government of India initiative targeted towards improving the livelihood of tribal population.
The focus and objective of the initiative is to harness the wealth of the forest for the benefit of society as a whole and also to the tribal population in particular.
VDVKS is a joint effort of Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) and the Government of India.
