Animal Health & Input Distribution Camp empowers marginalized farmers

Imphal, February 05 2026: The College of Food Technology, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Lamphelpat, hosted an 'Animal Health and Input Distribution Camp' yesterday at its Food Processing Pilot Plant.

Organized under the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI)-North Eastern Hill (NEH) Project, the event aimed to enhance livelihoods through scientific dairy farming in the North Eastern region of India, specifically targeting Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) farmers across various districts of Manipur.

It was a joint initiative by ICAR-NDRI's Eastern Regional Station (ERS) in Kalyani, West Bengal, and CAU's College of Food Technology in Imphal.

The camp was attended by dignitaries, including Dr Ashok Santra, Principal Scientist, NDRI, Kalyani; Dr Ajoy Mandal, Principal Scientist; Dr Mohan Mondal, Senior Scientist; Prof Ng Iboyaima Singh, Dean, College of Food Technology, CAU, Imphal; and Prof Ng Joykumar, Professor, College of Food Technology, CAU, Imphal.

In his address, Prof Ng Iboyaima Singh emphasized the project's role in uplifting North Eastern farmers via livestock interventions, hands-on training, and input support.

"A key component of the project is promoting scientific dairy farming, poultry, and duckery management, backed by technical guidance to boost farm productivity and income", he said.

A total of 50 beneficiaries-existing SC/ST piggery and poultry farmers, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and youth eager to start farming-received essential inputs, including piggery feeds, chicks, vitamin and mineral supplements, feeders, and waterers.
