Imphal, December 04 2022:
It is unfortunate that the Government was not able to reach an agreement with the locals of Khundrakpam to avoid the bandh they called on December 5 for not hearing their plea to reconstruct Sawombung-Sagolmang road, said KHUKYO.
KHUKYO (Khundrakpam Kendra Youths Organisation) in a statement said, the locals of Khundrakpam and in and around Sawombung-Sagolmang road have been facing inconveniences and difficulties due to the deplorable condition of the road.
The locals had called the bandh in the area on December 5 denouncing Government's failure to act on their appeal, it said.
In addition, the Waiton to Chingarel Tejpur road is also in a deplorable condition and is posing a threat to the commuters.
People of Khundrakpam and Pangei are facing extreme inconveniences when travelling to the Sub-Divisional Office and other Government institutions, it said.
Appealing to the Government and Works Department to hear the appeal of the people and reconstruct the road, KHUKYO asserted that the people of the region will be forced to reconstruct the road themselves if the Government is not willing to do its duty towards the people.
It also appealed to the people of the region to exclude religious rituals, essential services and health services from the purview of the bandh.
