Jiribam, October 04 2026: In a bid to curb rising traffic violations and ensure road safety, the Jiribam Police conducted a special traffic drive along the National Highway today evening.

During the operation, police personnel penalised several erring motorists and collected around Rs 11,500 in fines.

According to the officials, the drive was initiated to instill traffic discipline among drivers, especially given the steady daily increase in the number of vehicles on the road.

Speaking on the operation, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Jiribam Jitendra Prasad Keer stated that the improved condition of the National Highway has unfortunately led to a rise in speeding, which frequently results in road accidents.

He highlighted that the drive specifically targeted major offenses, including speeding, underage driving, driving without a valid license, riding without helmets, and drunken driving.

The SDPO further warned that such random checking drives will continue strictly in the coming days.

He urged all commuters and drivers to thoroughly understand and abide by traffic rules for their own safety and the safety of others.
