Social Welfare Minister visits Senjam Chirang, assures more State force

The fresh attack on Meitei settlements using drone bombs carried out by Kuki militants are terror attacks, and this should be condemned by all, said Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo today.
The Minister said this when he visited the house of Watham Sanatombi Chanu at Senjam Chirang.
Watham Sanatombi Chanu, daughter of W Gambhi was injured when Kuki militants bombarded Senjam Chirang using drones yesterday.
She is receiving treatment at Shija Hospital.
During the visit, Heikham Dingo acknowledged that the armed Kukis are using advanced drones and sniper rifles to attack Meitei settlements and unarmed civilians.
He said the use of such lethal technologies in ethnic conflict is unprecedented and against international humanitarian laws.
Dingo said he will discuss the use of drones and other issues with the Chief Minister for taking up appropriate actions.
He said Sekmai is a vulnerable place and steps will be taken to station more State forces in the region.
To end the conflict, he said all, irrespective of political parties, must unite.
The Minister discussed several issues with Meira paibis and members of local clubs, and instructed Imphal West DC to deliver needed relief materials to Senjam Chirang.
It may be noted that Kuki militants have attacked several Meitei settlements using drones to bomb houses since September 1 .
In a terror attack at Koutruk on September 1, Kuki militants shot and killed a woman identified as Angom Surbala and injured her minor daughter.
Aftermath of the attacks, many organisations have condemned the incidents as an act of terror.
The public as well as organisations have urged the Government to take decisive action against the Kuki militants and strengthen security measures in the periphery areas of the valley.
Manipur IMA, Indigenous Development Mission, Mayai Yumpham Khuman Kanglei Apunba Etinpham, Mumbai Manipuri Solidarity Group, Meitei Alliance , Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, Indigenous Mothers Association Haomee (IMAH) and Manipur Women's Federation (MWF) have condemned the terror attacks.
The organisations denounced some Central forces for allegedly remaining a bystander without taking any action against the Kuki militants.
They alleged that the heinous terror attacks on the village were "allowed" to carry out despite the presence of over 60,000 strong Central security forces.
