Noney launches rescue, rehabilitation campaign against child labour

Noney, August 03 2026: The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Noney, under Mission Vatsalya, launched a Pan Rescue and Rehabilitation campaign against Child Labour in observance of the World Day Against Child Labour.

The campaign was formally launched by Noney Deputy Commissioner Vidyamari Sridhar, who also serves as chairperson of the District Task Force on Child Labour.

An awareness poster for the campaign was also released during the programme, highlighting the need to prevent child labour, rescue and rehabilitate affected children and ensure their protection.

As part of the campaign, a poster awareness drive was conducted at various public places to sensitise people about the harmful impact of child labour, child rights and legal provisions under the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986, as amended.

Following the launch, the District Task Force conducted field visits to tea stalls, eateries, workshops, markets, commercial establishments and other vulnerable locations to identify children engaged in labour, sensitise employers and the public, and ensure enforcement of the law.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for collective efforts by government departments, law enforcement agencies, schools, civil society organisations and the public to eliminate child labour and ensure every child has access to education, protection and a safe childhood.

The District Task Force appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report cases of child labour to the concerned authorities to facilitate timely rescue, rehabilitation and care of affected children.
