Awareness programme, cycle rally mark World Bicycle Day

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, in association with the Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association (MAAMBA), organised a cycle rally today to mark World Bicycle Day 2025 .
As per a release issued by RIMS, the event aimed to promote eco-friendly transportation, physical fitness, and health awareness among the public.
The rally was flagged off from Jubilee Hall, RIMS, by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal, in the presence of Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal.
At the event, Prof G Sunil Kumar expressed pride in RIMS' enthusiastic observance of World Bicycle Day, promoting health and environmental responsibility.
Emphasizing cycling as a simple yet impactful tool against lifestyle diseases, he lauded the active participation of faculty, staff, and students.
He also thanked the MAAMBA and encouraged all to champion cycling for a sustainable future.
The cyclists passed through key locations including BRTF Lamphel, Watham Leirak, Assembly Road, North AOC, Nityananda Chuthek, Kwakeithel Traffic Point, and finally assembled at Ideal Club, Tera Bazar.
An awareness programme was also conducted at the Ideal Club to emphasize the benefits of cycling for health and the environment.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Heads of Departments/Sections, Deputy Director (Admn), faculty members, staff, members of the MAAMBA and students of RIMS .
