Bishnupur, November 01 2025:
Aggrieved students of Moirang College have refused to appear for the entrance exam set to be held tomorrow for admission to BA 4-year honours and research courses.
Students of Manipuri Department of the College have contended that their admission processes have already been completed and urged Director (U) and the College Principal to refrain from making victims out of the students.
Speaking to media persons today, one Jennifer Moirangthem from Manipuri Department said that as per the guidelines under NEP 2020, Director (U) issued an order for admission to the 7th and 8th semester (honours and research courses) of BA/BSc 4-year programme, which included Moirang College among the list of colleges.
However, after all admission procedures were complete, the Director (U) reportedly issued another order where Moirang College was not among the list of eligible colleges, according to Jennifer.
NEP 2020 rules clearly state that students with CGPA 7.5 in the 6th semester exam can get admission into the BA/BSc 4-year programme.
However, in the midst of all these confusion, an entrance exam was announced slated for tomorrow, for students seeking admission into the aforementioned courses.
This is unacceptable to the students of Moirang College, she said.
Students whose admission procedures have already been completed will neither sit for the entrance exam nor allow their year to be wasted.
They should be allowed to continue their courses, asserted Jennifer.
Questioning in which other States students are made to sit for entrance examinations after completing their admission process under NEP 2020, she urged the Director (U) and College Principal to alleviate the students' grievances instead of assigning blame on one another.
