Sylhet, September 01 2026: On the arrival of the birth month of Lamyanba Hijam Irawat, floral tributes were paid at his statue at the Integrated Manipuri Association (IMA) Complex at Bhanubil Meetei village, Bangladesh today.

Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) Kangleipak Luchingpurel Naorem Nongmailembi, Thouburel Paonam Ibomcha, Education secretary Maibam Indrajit, Patriotic Writers Forum Manipur secretary Rakesh Naorem, IMA Complex land donor Keisham Mangoljao, IMA Complex general secretary Leichombam Rajkumar and the complex's librarian Thangjam Nobin were present.

Patriotic Writers Forum Manipur secretary Rakesh Naorem recalled that the statue of Lamyan Irawat was installed at the Bhanubil Meetei Khul on September 30, 2006 under Late Thounaojam Iboyaima, better known as "Father of Social Worker of Manipur" .

He spoke on Hijam Irawat's life and works, and said the floral tribute was paid as a mark of respect for the "Lamyanba" on the arrival of his birth month.

At the event, Naorem Nongmailembi urged members of the Meitei/ Meetei community in Bangladesh to join a 10-day course on Meetei/Meitei Mayek scheduled to be held at the Manipuri Cultural Complex.
