Inspire internship camp kick-started

The five-day 3rd INSPIRE Internship Science Camp of the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspire Research programme of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt of India was inaugurated today at Senate Hall, MU .
The inaugural function of the camp was graced by M Okendro, Minister of Education; Prof RK Gartia, Dean School of Mathematical and Physical sciences, MU; Prof N Irabanta, Dean, School of Life Sciences, MU; Prof Arun Chattopadhyay, IIT Guwahati and Prof HNK Sarma, VC of MU as the chief guest, guests of honour and president respectively.
The camp, attended by around 150 campers, most of them in Class XI and XII, would be marked by lectures from eminent scientists and professors including Dr VV Patel, Aeronautical Development Agency, MoD, Bangalore; Prof Amit Roy, Director, Inter-University Accelerator Centre; Dr Uma Rao, Principal Scientist, Division f Nematology, IARI, New Delhi, et al .
Among others, the features of the camp included quiz, discussion, interaction, screening of science films, poster presentation, demonstration and touring of MU campus, visiting labs and Heavy Power Station at Leimakhong.
The campers would be provided free accomodation and food during the camp.
The basic objective of the camp is to attract talent to the study of sciences at an early stage and help building the required critical human resources pool for strengthening and expanding the science technology system.
