Timely response brings jungle fire under control

A potential forest fire near the Friendship Bridge Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Moreh in Tengnoupal district was swiftly brought under control on February 28 following prompt action by alert troops deployed along the international boundary.
According to a press note issued by IGAR (S), the blaze was detected at an early stage by vigilant picquets positioned in the area.
Upon noticing smoke rising from the nearby forest, the troops immediately assessed the situation and mobilised to the site without delay.
Given the proximity of the fire to sensitive locations and vital installations in and around the ICP, quick intervention was essential, said the statement.
The personnel promptly initiated fire-control measures, including creating firebreaks and using available firefighting resources to contain and extinguish the flames.
The coordinated and timely response prevented the fire from spreading towards critical infrastructure and adjoining areas.
Moreover, continuous monitoring of the affected site was carried out to ensure complete extinguishment and eliminate any possibility of reignition.
All safety protocols were strictly followed during the operation.
Necessary precautions were also taken to safeguard civilians, security personnel and property in the vicinity.
Most importantly, the fire was successfully controlled without any casualties or damage.
