DWSM meeting held at Bishnupur

Bishnupur, July 31 2025: Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam today chaired the meeting of the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), Bishnupur district at the Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur, to deliberate on key issues concerning water supply and sanitation in the district.

During the meeting, Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Bishnupur, Puyam Rambo briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the status of the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission - Har Ghar Jal, an initiative of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.

The mission aims to ensure safe and adequate drinking water to every rural household through individual tap connections.

Pooja Elangbam directed officials of PHED, Bishnupur, to ensure the provision of safe drinking water and the maintenance of proper sanitation across the district.

She emphasized that water and sanitation are two vital components for ensuring good health and well-being.

Highlighting the importance of expanding the reach of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the district, the DC stressed the need to identify vulnerable areas so they can be brought under the scope of the scheme.

She encouraged the officials to meet the target of providing safe drinking water to every household of the district by December 2026.Executive Engineer, PHED, Bishnupur Puyam Rambo highlighted the progress of the implementation of the mission and the challenges faced on the ground.

He affirmed that the department will work to meet the target.

The meeting was attended by the ADM Bishnupur Toijam Opendro and members of DWSM, Bishnupur.

Mentioned may be made that the DWSM is constituted as per the operational guidelines for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission - Har Ghar Jal, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
