Imphal, May 31 2024: Dalit Sahitya Academy, Manipur has expressed profound sorrow and condolence over the untimely demise of renowned writer & cultural activist Prof (Dr) Oinam Chaoba Meetei.

He passed away on May 30, 2024 due to an illness, said a release issued by Dalit Sahitya Academy, Manipur.

Prof Oinam Chaoba Meetei was the North East co-ordinator of Dalit Sahitya Academy Manipur & Global University of Dalit, Thailand and member of Sanamahi Temple Board.

Dalit Sahitya Academy Manipur also convened an emergency meeting at its Head Office today morning to mourn the sudden demise of the social reformer & cultural activist.

The gathering which included Dr Waikhom Gojen Meetei, Dr Hem Sorokhaibam, Dr Yumnam Mahendra Kumar and SK Apanba Meetei observed two minutes of silence to pay respect and pray for the departed soul to rest in peace.

They also shared the grief & pain of the bereaved family.
