Forest Department continues eviction drive at Gwarok Reserved Forest

Thoubal, August 30 2025:
The Forest Department of Manipur continued its eviction drive against encroachments at Gwarok Reserved Forest under the Divisional Forest Office, Thoubal today.
According to reports, the operation was carried out by a joint team of Thoubal Range and Kakching Range, led by Range Officer of Thoubal, Dineshchandra Salam, under the supervision of Divisional Forest Officer Leishangthem Jeeceelee.
During the drive, multiple unauthorized structures built at Langmeithet within the Gwarok Reserved Forest were dismantled.

To prevent any untoward incidents, a police team from Nongpok Sekmai Police Station, led by OC Inaobi, provided security throughout the eviction.
Range Officer Dineshchandra Salam informed that two illegal paka buildings and a vermicompost structure were among those dismantled.
He further stated that such eviction exercises will continue regularly to check further encroachments and appealed to the public to remove any illegal constructions voluntarily from reserved forest areas.
