Imphal, July 30 2025:
The Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), a constituent unit of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, has strongly refuted allegations of irregularities in the recruitment of 'Gurus' (teachers) at the academy.
Addressing a press conference today at Manipur Press Club, Pukhrambam Bilash, Director of JNMDA, refuted the allegations made by an applicant by the name of Hanglem Indu about irregularities in the recruitment of Guru Rasdhari and Guru Sutradhari, labelling them as baseless and misleading.
The Director clarified that the applicant (Indu) was rejected by the Screening Committee of JNDMA as she did not submit all the relevant documents for the post of Guru Rasdhari and Guru Sutradhari.
"The eligibility criteria for the two posts were- At least 2nd class Post Graduate Diploma Course of the JNMDA, 7 years experience from a reputed institute or a recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
Applicants with knowledge of Raas, Sankirtan and Sanskrit were listed as desirable", said the Director while adding that in the application submitted by Indu, there was no experience certificate (7 years).
Stating that Indu was not a Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee, he said, "She was a recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar Award which is very different from the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award".
The Director also mentioned that Indu and other candidates whose applications were rejected for various reasons were given prior information for their disqualification/rejection.
Regarding the candidate appointed to the post of Rasdhari Guru, the Director shared that RK Opendro who is well known in this field was appointed to the post after fulfilling all the established criteria.
"The recruitment process was done entirely by the Screening Committee to ensure equal opportunity and merit-based selection.
Only the final order was issued in the name of the Director", added Pukhrambam Bilash.
