World Heart Day observed with health camps in Thoubal, Bishnupur

As observed globally, World Heart Day 2025 was marked today with a free health screening camp at Nepra Company Awang Leikai Community Hall.
The event was organised by the District Health Society Thoubal and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Cell in collaboration with Numit Ki Mangal VLF, Nepra Company Awang Leikai.
The event held under the theme "Don't Miss a Beat", as part of the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Hannah Kahmei as chief guest; Chief Medical Officer Thoubal Dr Y Nokul as functional president; and District Hospital Thoubal Medical Superintendent Dr W Ruhinikumar and Charangpat PHC Senior Medical Officer in-charge Dr Mona Angom as guests of honour.
Delivering the keynote address, NCD Thoubal, District Nodal Officer Dr M Bikramjit highlighted how heart attack, heart failure, stroke, and other related ailments arise, stressing the importance of early detection and preventive measures to keep the hearth healthy.
As part of the camp, free health screenings and consultations were conducted for oral cancer, NCDs, dermatology, PMR, and gynecology.
Medicines were also distributed to the people at free of cost.
In a gesture of care towards elderly, Hand Exercise Ball and Walking Sticks were also distributed to senior citizens by the dignitaries.
Meanwhile, World Heart Day 2025, was also observed today at Irengband village, organised by the District NCD Cell Bishnupur.
During the event, CMO Dr L Raichandra and Manipur's first Heart Surgeon Dr Ksh Kala Singh, emphasised the need for awareness on preventing heart diseases.
They advised on healthy diets, regular screenings, and lifestyle changes to reduce risks of heart attacks.
The event also offered free health screenings for hypertension, diabetes, oral, breast and cervical cancers for early detection, and free medicines were also distributed to the people.
