Imphal, August 28 2024: A 60-metre stretch between Rengpang and Taodaijang on Tongjei Maril (Old Cachar road) which sank recently will be repaired soon, said a source in the Public Works Department.

The 60 metres stretch sank amid heavy downpours on July 30 last completely cutting off connection to several villages in the region.

The source in the Public Works Department said a design for new alignment of the stretch has been completed and the reconstruction work will begin soon.

Meanwhile, sources said Nungba Assembly Constituency MLA Dinganglung Gangmei and engineers of the Keystone Construction company may visit and inspect the site on Saturday.

The reconstruction work may begin after the inspection, said the sources.
