Moirang, April 28 2026:
A sit-in protest was held on Tuesday at Tronglaobi Awang Keithel, Bishnupur district, demanding justice over the killing of two innocent children in a bomb attack at Tronglaobi and the deaths of three civilians allegedly caused by firing from personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) during the protest that followed.
The demonstration saw participation from local residents, including Meira Paibis, who gathered to press for accountability and immediate action against those responsible for the incidents.
Speaking at the protest, Moirangthem Asha, a protester, demanded that the Government of Manipur identify and bring to justice those involved in the killing of two children at Tronglaobi.
She also called for a judicial inquiry into the alleged firing by CRPF personnel that reportedly claimed the lives of three civilians, urging that those responsible be punished in accordance with the law.
In addition, she demanded that authorities identify the perpetrators behind the ambush at TM Kasom, in which two Naga civilians were killed, and called for stronger action against armed Kuki groups operating in the State.
Raising concerns over security deployment, Asha said the people of Tronglaobi want the CRPF battalion stationed at Gehnol village be relocated to hill areas and replaced with State forces.
She further stated that the people of Tronglaobi would extend support to any agitation launched across Manipur in connection with the incident, adding that democratic forms of protest would continue in the area until justice is delivered.
During the protest, demonstrators held placards bearing messages such as "We condemn the killing of civilians", "Punish irresponsible CRPF personnel involved in killing civilians", "Carry out military crackdown against Kuki militants", while also raising slogans demanding changes in security deployment, and stronger measures to ensure public safety.
