Ukhrul, January 28 2025:
The All Hunphun Tangs Association (AHTA), Ukhrul has strongly reacted against "lackadaisical attitude" of Ukhrul block SDO Dinringam Kamei and has threatened to launch democratic agitation against him.
Speaking at a press conference held today at Hotel Yari Phungreitang Ukhrul, president of AHTA, Chonmi Raleng vehemently condemned the attitude of SDO Ukhrul and demanded the officer to "immediately release pending material components bills of Ukhrul block particularly for the district Headquarters within one week or face public outrage for dereliction and negligence of duty" .
"AHTA has approached SDO Dinringam multiple times praying to address the issues.
However, despite multiple requests, the SDO has put the blame on lower technical staff for delay in submission of estimates in the office.
The SDO has failed to release the bills on time," said Chonmi.
Meanwhile, Alungpam, chairman of Kahum Tang stated that a total amount of Rs 1 crore was sanctioned for Ukhrul block.
"It was learnt that the SDO had released material components for some villages in December last year.
But when enquired, the SDO merely pacified us stating that Churachandpur district had overdrawn the fund and no fund in the State MGNREGA pool was left," said Alungpam.
"How can the share of the Ukhrul block be utilised by other districts?" Alungpam questioned.
Demanding immediate investigation of the matter, the All Hunphun Tangs Association has sought intervention from higher authorities and local MLA Ram Muivah to look into the delay in payment of pending bills for the period 2023-24 & 2025 in the greater interest of the MGNREGA wage earners.
