Roofing sheets donated for construction of Sainik Bhavan

In order to help The Ex-Servicemen Association of Bishnupur in the construction of "Sainik Bhawan", Thongam Shanti, MLA Moirang Assembly Constituency has handed over 40 Dyna roof sheets to the Association today.
It may be noted that The Ex-Servicemen Association of Bishnupur is constituted of retired personnel belonging to the Army, CRPF and many other active services.
The event was held at the office of The Ex-Servicemen Association of Bishnupur in Moirang Lairenjam Leikai and was attended by MLA Moirang Thongam Shanti; H Sharat, president, The Ex-Servicemen Association of Bishnupur; Y Ibotombi, secretary, The Ex-Servicemen Association of Bishnupur, executive members of the Association and staff of the MLA's Moirang office.
Reportedly, the Association is comprised of 440 members, including two 'Veer Naari' and 44 widows of active service personnel who gave their life for the nation.
Speaking on the occasion, Thongam Shanti lauded the Ex-servicemen Association of Bishnupur for taking up proactive steps to construct the Sainik Bhavan, which will host annual get-together programs for the Association.
The MLA continued to commend the Association members for successfully providing training to the youth of the area to help them get recruited in the Armed Forces as well as for a multitude of their other contributions.
Referring to the 40 Dyna roof sheet handed over to the Association, he provided assurance of further help from his side in the future.
He also urged the youth to seek help from the Association to shape their future instead of being influenced by drugs and other narcotic substances.
Addressing the gathering, Y Ibotombi shared that the Association holds a meeting on the 10th of every month to share and discuss the problems and difficulties faced by the retired active service personnel in their daily lives.
He said that due to a lack of space the Association usually held their monthly meetings at people's properties.
Since the establishment of the Association in 1996, the members had donated an amount of Rs 20 each to construct a proper head quarter/office for the Association, the secretary informed.
He then expressed relief and joy that the construction work is nearing completion and further shared that the Association is currently helping the families of retired active personnel to get reimbursement for medical expenses.
