16 deaths, 669 cases as Covid onslaught rages

Imphal, June 27 2021: As the state continues to face the onslaught of the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, 16 new death cases and 669 new infections were detected out of 5185 samples tested in the last 24 hours reporting a positivity rate of 12.90 per cent.

The active caseload has reached 5824 on Sunday with 2409 under home isolation and remaining 3415 in CHIC, CCCs and Covid hospitals.

So far, the state has reported 39,798 positive cases and 769 fatalities since the beginning of the current year.

The current month has witnessed addition of 17,235 new cases and 317 fatalities of which 3921 new cases and 77 fatalities were added in the last seven days.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 16 Covid-19 deaths (8 males & 8 females) in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (4), Imphal East (4), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (1) and Churachandpur (5) .

Five patients died at DH Churachandpur, four at RIMS, three at JNIMS, and one each at Shija Hospitals, Raj Medicity, DH Thoubal and CCC Loukoipat.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1124.Four victims were from the age group of below 60 years and eight of them did not have any co-morbid conditions.

According to official reports, the 669 new cases included 663 persons (343 males & 320 females) from among the general population and 6 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Their samples were tested at RIMS (16), JNIMS (20), District Hospitals (448) and other testing centres (185).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (93), Imphal West (226), Thoubal (69), Bishnupur (75), Kakching (81), Ukhrul (3), Churachandpur (71), Chandel (7), Tamenglong (12), Tengnoupal (4), Kamjong (4), Pherzawl (1) and Kangpokpi (17) .

In the last 24 hours, 509 persons were discharged from home isolation (186), RIMS (16), CCCs (108) and CHICs (199).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 67,986 (general population - 64,165 and CAPF personnel - 3,821).Number of recovered cases is 61,038 (general population - 57,270 and CAPF personnel - 3,768) and number of active cases is 5,824 (general population - 5,776 and CAPF personnel - 48).The recovery rate is 89.78 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 2243 D-type and 319 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

District hospitals and government institutions have 460D and 89B type filled cylinders while district/subdivision-wise distributions made in the last 24 hours are Bishnupur (113D,4B), Chandel (34D,9B), Churachandpur (67D,3B), Senapati (48D,0B), Thoubal (61D,29B), Ukhrul (38D,15D), Tamenglong (16D,0B), Jiribam (45D,12B), Moreh (12D,2B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B), Kakching (12D,12B), Pherzawl (6D,2B), Noney (2D,0B) and CCC (285D,104B).On Saturday, 7319 vaccine doses including 214 second doses were administered and so far 5,31,004 individuals have been vaccinated against Covid-19 out of which 83,139 have got their second doses.

Meanwhile, 21 new cases were detected out of 137 samples tested in Kakching district on Sunday.

Three cases were detected at Ema Hospital, four at Jivan Hospital and 14 at government RAT Centre.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (23,893), Imphal East (15,135), Thoubal (5586), Churachandpur (5351), Kangpokpi (1730), Tamenglong (2125), Bishnupur (4217), Senapati (1370), Ukhrul (1451), Kakching (3378), Chandel (1142), Noney (557), Tengnoupal (753), Jiribam (747), Kamjong (438) and Pherzawl (109) .

Fatalities counts in different districts are Imphal West (402), Imphal East (293), Thoubal (105), Churachandpur (92), Kangpokpi (28), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (82), Senapati (5), Ukhrul (15), Kakching (61), Chandel (16), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (5), Jiribam (3), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 21,910 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 21,729 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 2,86,213 tests per million population against the national average of 2,90,140 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.65 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 5185 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 12.90 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 7.66 per cent.
