Imphal, October 26:
Taking serious note of the pitiable and degraded condition of National Highway 39, the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) has sought immediate attention of the State Government.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister yesterday, a copy of which is released to the press, the SDSA decried the inaction of the State Government despite repeated appeals and reminders.
Even as the Minister concerned and relevant officials have inspected the condition of NH 39 and assured to initiate development/renovation work soon after the rainy season is over, there has been no sign of any repairing work taken up along the highway till date, SDSA noted.
Moreover, the construction of water tank for water supply scheme taken up under NLCPR is still incomplete even after 30 months even though the project was slated for completion within 18 months.
Considering the acute problem of drinking water currently faced by the local people, the student body appealed to the Government to complete the project soon in order to redress the woes of the people.
Urging upon the Government to take up necessary actions on their two point memorandum within 15 days, the SDSA cautioned that democratic forms will be launched if there is no positive within the deadline set for which the Government should be held responsible.
