Kargil Heroes remembered on 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas

Commemorating the victory of India over Pakistan during the Kargil War in 1999 and the supreme sacrifices of the Indian soldiers, the State joined in observing the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas today.
Bishnupur
The District Administration Bishnupur observed the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas at the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bishnupur Lourembam Bikram emphasized the roles and responsibilities of the Indian Armed Forces in maintaining the Nation's integrity and sovereignty.
He highlighted that a nation's development is closely related to the sense of nationalism.
It is the responsibility of every citizen to know the history of their country, take pride in it, and nurture a sense of nationalism for the nation's prosperity, he added.
The DC also stressed the importance of safeguarding the country's border and called on all citizens to share the responsibility of preserving the nation.
Attended by the officials of the District Administration, a 2 minutes silence was also observed in honor of the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the war.
It may be noted that Kargil Vijay Diwas was also celebrated in the offices of the District Headquarters Bishnupur.
Senapati
In remembrance of the brave Indian soldiers for their valor and indomitable spirit, the District Administration, Senapati joined the country in celebrating 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas today at DC Conference Hall, Senapati.
Addressing the gathering, PP Ronald, MCS, Project Director, DRDA, Senapati said that the Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated to commemorate India's victory in the Kargil and the supreme sacrifices of the Indian army in the war.
He went on to mention that the main cause of the war is due to infiltration and incursion by Pakistani soldiers and Kashmiri militants into India-controlled territory of Kargil.
Remembering the supreme sacrifice of the five fallen heroes of Kargil War from Manipur in the Kargil War, he appealed to the gathering to uphold them in highest regard.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati Mamoni Doley, IAS administered the pledge of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
She also presented a memento and gift to Hriiyio son of Sepoy K Ashuli of the Naga Regiment from Senapati District, who was posthumously awarded Vir Chakra.
It may also be mentioned that Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated in all the offices and Sub- Divisional blocks of the district.
The programme was attended by Nimmi Azingwungshi Khamrang, ADM Senapati; Pf Lophro, SDC Senapati and office staff.
Thoubal
The celebration of 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas was held today at DC Thoubal conference hall organised by the District Administration Thoubal.
DC Thoubal Ahanthem Subhash Singh led in observing two-minute silence in the honour of the martyrs of Kargil War.
Thoubal District SP Rakesh Balwan and other District Level Officers (DLOs) also attended today's programme.
