Bishnupur CPI stages protest demanding resettlement of IDPs, political solution to crisis

Bishnupur, June 25 2024:
In stem opposition to conducting of combing operations and demanding a political solution to the Manipur conflict as well as resettlement of IDPs, the Communist Party of India (CPI) Council, Bishnupur District in association with meira paibis of the district staged a sit-in protest at Khwairakpam Community Hall today.
Notable CPI personalities including M Joykumar, Assistant Secretary CPI Manipur State, K Mohonchandra, State Control and Commission Member, S Nilakomol, State Executive Member and M Shakhi, State Executive Member participated in the protest.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, K Bimol, CPI Former District Secretary highlighted the growing hardships faced by the people of Manipur.
He warned that if the internally displaced people currently living in relief camps are not resettled in their original homes, the State might be overtaken by another more intense crisis.
Thus, in order to prevent such a precarious situation for the State, the Government should expedite all efforts to resettle the displaced people, he said.
Meanwhile, Ch Sharat, CPI District Secretary emphasized on the incapability of the people, including the Chief Minister, to venture into hill areas as well as many other locations.
Comparing the plight of Meiteis to that of a fish in a bowl, he urged the Government to take stringent measures to bring practical solutions and restore peaceful co-existence in the State.
Additionally, protestors at the spot stood against disintegration of Manipur, accused the Chief Minister of being too weak to rein in the violent conflict and held him accountable for the failure of law and order in Manipur.
Placards with messages against military rule and demanding a political solution were wielded at the protest demonstration.
