NPO condemns assault on Daili villagers

Imphal, April 25: The Naga People's Organisation (NPO) has strongly condemned the brutal act of assaulting and torturing Daili village headman Stephen, Village Authority member Losii and Principal of St Francis De Sales School, Rev Fr Korean allegedly by the KRA on April 23 .

According to an NPO release, both the headman and village authority member were called out from their respective houses and brought to the room of Rev Fr Korean.

There the armed persons demanded Rs 10,000 from the priest.

Following the denial of the three to fulfil the demand, they were taken to Haijang village where the armed persons reportedly thrashed them blue and black.

Questioning the motive of the KRA in targeting Nagas, the NPO appealed to all UG groups not to harm innocent civilians, religious personnel, charity and educational institutions and to understand the need for peaceful co-existence among tribal people.
