Imphal, February 25 2025:
The Thiimziih Teen Bujuur Ruwrkheh (TTBR) has strongly opposed the recent order issued by the Government of Manipur dated Feb 21, 2025, regarding the appointment of a new Principal for South East Manipur College, Komlathabi, in Chandel District The TTBR in a release stated that since the announcement of the appointment, the college students have been protesting against the decision expressing their dissatisfaction over the appointment of a non-local principal during such a sensitive period in the state.
The students believe that this arbitrary move of the Govt appointing a new principal at their college will disrupt the existing peaceful functioning of the college as well as negatively affect their academic experience, said TTBR.
The TTBR urges the authorities to recognise the importance of maintaining stability in Chandel District and local leadership during these challenging times.
TTBR continued that the present Principal in-charge has successfully led the college, evident in the improved NAAC accreditation grade and the enhanced student involvements in academic and co-curricular activities.
"The present college leadership is in tune with the holistic educational aspects of maintaining academic quality and community relationship which has been instrumental in guiding the institution through this difficult period," said TTBR.
As such, the students and the student bodies of the region (TTBR and NSUC) strongly believe that there is no immediate need of a new principal by South East Manipur College because the present principal in-charge is capable and qualified enough, asserted TTBR.
The TTBR also questioned the authority on why the present principal-in-charge was not appointed as the new principal, instead of appointing a new principal via transfer scheme.
The TTBR therefore calls on the concerned authority to act swiftly and reconsider the order of appointment of the new principal, to avoid further unrest and ensure the continued growth and stability of the college.
