Imphal, October 24 2024:
The Deputy General Manager of Manipur State Co-operative Bank has clarified that the allegations levelled by All Manipur Gram Panchayat Level and LAMPS (PACS) Development Co-operative Societies Association to the board members of MSCB is baseless.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, Lairikyengbam Angouba said that a process has begun to hold the board election, but the notification has not yet been issued.
"Under Manipur Co-operative Society Act, 1976 section 73 (3) (1), the election for board or management must be held before one month from the day of last year election date.
To hold the election on November 23 is under the provision of the Act", said Angouba.
He further said that there is no such bye laws or rules which state that the any election related notification must be sent to DCO and ARCS.
The bank has set an ultimatum to all the societies to clear the loan dues within 15 days, in order to participate at the election, he asserted.
To conduct the election in a democratic way, and abide by the rules and regulations, a special general body meeting has been called on November 23 and the people and the societies of the bank have been urged to cooperate.
