Imphal, June 23 2025:
The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters, has urged the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) to reserve 1 post for Scheduled Tribe (ST) out of 3 posts of Development Officer (DIC) as per Order No 9/6/2007-SC/ST/OBC/DP(Pt) dated November 14, 2014, and for grant of 5 years age relaxation to ST candidates for all 18 advertised/sanctioned posts.
In a release, the TYCM said that the MPSC, vide an advertisement dated June 17, 2025, invited applications for direct recruitment to various posts in the Directorate of Trade, Commerce & Industries, Manipur, on a contractual basis.
The TYCM mentioned that in the the advertisement, all three posts of DIC have been reserved for the Un-Reserved (UR) category, contrary to, and in violation of, the Government Order dated November 14, 2014, issued by the Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms (Personnel Division), Government of Manipur.
In the advertisement, age relaxation for ST candidates has been provided only for the post of Extension Officer (IND) .
For all other posts, no age relaxation has been granted, as there are no posts reserved for ST candidates.
The TYCM highlighted that age relaxation is not based/determined on whether a post is reserved; it is based/determined on the caste category of the candidate/applicant.
It applies to individuals belonging to their respective caste categories, irrespective of whether the vacancies are reserved or UR .
ST candidates are eligible to apply for and compete for UR posts as well.
Therefore, 5 years of age relaxation must be granted to ST candidates for all posts, added TYCM.
The TYCM also informed that a representation has been submitted in this regard to the Chairman, MPSC, on June 23, 2025 .
