MSPP resolves to observe Black Day today

Manipur State Panchayat Parishad (MSPP), Porompat has resolved to continue its agitation demanding wages for job cardholders, the release of 15th Finance Commission Awards (2nd instalment) fund and implementation of the National Electronic Fund Management System (NEFMS) .
Briefing journalists at Porompat Panchayat Bhavan, MSPP president Md Abdul Latip claimed that the Ministry of Rural Development had already released their share of the MGNREGS fund on March 18, 2021 .
Further claiming that the State Government is still withholding the amount meant for the job cardholders, though there is a rule to release the fund to the Panchayati Raj Institutions concerned within 3 days from the date of receiving, he added that the Parishad will take legal help if the MGNREGS fund is not released by April 26.He also said that the Panchayat functionaries of 6 districts - Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Jiribam will observe Black Day at MSPP Hall and different Gram Panchayats, tomorrow.
April 24 is celebrated as National Panchayati Day in India.
Though pending honoraria for elected PRI members have been released, the elected Panchayat functionaries have resolved not to withdraw the honoraria and see the Rs 48 crore released as MGNREGS fund unless all their demands are fulfilled, he said adding that the PRIs will not call off their agitation for partial fulfilment of their demands.
He further stated that the PRIs will discuss the future course of their agitation on April 25.Md Latif, on the other hand.
said that the ugly incident that took place at Phougakchao under Torbung Gram Panchayat in which one car belonging to medical staff was partly damaged by bandh supporters was unfortunate.
Saying that MSPP is considering repairing the damaged car, he urged the authority concerned to release the Pradhan of Torbung Gram Panchayat who was arrested in connection with the incident without any condition.
