Lawyers stage protest against Advocates Amendment Bill 2025

Kakching, February 23 2025: Kakching District Bar Association staged a sit-in protest today at the campus of newly constructed District Court Complex, Kakching against the introduction of "Advocates Amendment Bill, 2025" .

Speaking on the sideline of the protest.

Kakching District Bar Association, B Prem Sharma stated that the Bill is against the interest of advocates.

"The introduction of the Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2025 may discourage many who are in the profession of Advocate", stated Prem Sharma.

He continued that the Association will extend support to any decision taken up by the Bar Council of India for the welfare of lawyers.

He further alleged that some organisations in the State are intimidating the lawyers.

"The lawyers of the State are playing a crucial role in the functioning of the Court and for the welfare of the people.

Therefore such disruption and intimidation to the lawyers must be stopped immediately," stated Prem Sharma.

He also urged the authorities concerned to complete the construction of the Kakching District Court Complex and make it functional at the earliest.
