Thoubal, November 22 2024:
Condemning the recent attack at the residence of MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar, Kakching CSOs have clarified that the incident is not connected to them in any way.
Speaking to media persons during a press briefing held yesterday, Pukhrambam Somarendra, advisor, Joint Non-Govemment Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO) Kakching said that the attack on the Kakching MLA was carried out in violation of the resolutions collectively passed by the CSOs earlier.
In response to the inhumane Jiribam killings, various Kakching CSOs organised a candle march and submitted a memorandum listing their resolutions to the MLA on November 16 demanding him to declare his stance on the conflict within 48-hours.The JNGVO advisor said that the attack on the MLA on the fateful night has no connection with the democratic agitation organised by the CSOs.
Thus, he appealed to people to avoid acting against the resolutions passed by the CSOs in the future.
Additionally, he has urged the Kakching MLA to declare his stance on the matter while keeping public sentiment in consideration.
On another note, Dr N Bobo, president, Volunteers' Co-ordinating Committee (VCC) Kakching underscored Saikot MLA Paolienlal Haokip's recent assertion that the Jiribam killings were carried out by Kukis as an act of "retaliation" against Meiteis during an interview with a national media house.
Declaring that the CSOs take his statement very seriously, he urged the State Government to initiate legal action and register an FIR against the MLA and further disqualify all the Kuki MLAs.
Notably, volunteers of All Kakching Clubs Coordinating Committee (AKCCC), Kakching Keithel Apunba Ima Lup (KKAIL), Kakching Apunba Nupi Lup (KANL), All Kha Kanglei Students Union (AKKSU), Joint Non-Govemment Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO), Langsai Thouna (LT), Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association (KBBWA) and Volunteers Co-ordinating Committee (VCC) were in attendance at the press briefing.
