Imphal, May 22 2025:
The proscribed KYKL and its armed wing MYL have mourned the demise of its private Moirangthem Nanao alias Ngamba (35) of Tuibong, Churachandpur district.
According to a press release issued by KYKL Publicity and Research Secretary A Yaiphaba, private Nanao alias Ngamba was killed by a sniper bullet while he was on duty at a frontline of the ongoing war between the combined force of Indian armed forces and their proxy, KNF(B) and a combined team of the revolutionary organisations of Kangleipak along Kanglei-Myanmar border on May 19, 2025 .
Moirangthem Nanao alias Ngamba was the youngest of five children bom to late Moirangthem Mani and Moirangthem (ongbi) Loidang.
He was among the thousands of people who were driven out of Churachandpur on May 3, 2023, the first day of the proxy war being waged allegedly by the Government of India.
Together with hundreds of other houses, Nanao's house was also burnt down on May 3, 2023 by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
The cruel proxy war led to separation of Nanao alias Ngamba from his Khongjai wife and children, it said.
Being a man bom and raised in Churachandpur, Nanao alias Ngamba did not find it hard to delve into why Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists attacked Meiteis, what is their objective and why Meiteis are forced to live as refugees in their own homeland.
He knew very well that the violence is India's proxy war and it is aimed at suppressing and annihilating the Meetei community.
Fully convinced that the sorry state of Meeteis living as refugees in their own homeland is a result of Kangleipak being an alleged occupied territory of India, Nanao alias Ngamba realised that the only means to save the community from such the current sorry state and prevent future generations from facing similar situations is liberation of Kangleipak.
He joined KYKL in November 2024 and received training in the second batch of 2025.After completing basic military training, he was inducted into MYL in March 2025, the outfit said.
Ngamba Meetei came from a family dedicated to preserving and promoting Kanglei identity and culture.
Nanao alias Ngamba was a resolute, calm, disciplined, forbearing and courageous revolutionary fighter, the outfit remarked.
The demise of Nanao alias Ngamba is a huge loss for the Kanglei revolutionary movement, particularly KYKL which would be hard to fill in, it said.
Offering revolutionary salute to the deceased cadre, the outfit has also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and friends.
