Kangpokpi, April 22 2026:
The Tahamzam Youth Forum (TYF) has alleged "no provocation" from the Naga side in the recent clashes at S Changoubung, while condemning what it described as an "unwarranted and aggressive intervention" by members of the Kuki community during a shutdown called by the United Naga Council (UNC) in Senapati district.
In a statement the TYF said the incident occurred in the early hours of April 21 at Tumuyon Khullen village, where Naga youths had organised a peaceful shutdown in solidarity with the killing of two Naga civilians in Ukhrul district on April 18 .
The forum maintained that the demonstration was peaceful and alleged that the intervention led to violence/ leaving five Naga youths injured and three vehicles damaged, including one belonging to the Senapati District Students' Association.
Rejecting claims that Naga volunteers used automatic weapons, the TYF termed such allegations "baseless" and inconsistent with facts on the ground.
It also criticised the selective use of tear gas by State armed forces against Naga volunteers, alleging bias in the handling of the situation.
Amid heightened tensions, the TYF asserted that the Naga community "will not remain passive" in the face of attempts to destabilise society and warned that any provocation would be met with a befitting response.
