State Competitive Scholarship Exam conducted across 16 districts

The annual State Competitive Scholarship Exam for Class III, V and VIII students was conducted today in 16 districts across 17 centres with the participation of over 7000 students.
Speaking to the media in this connection, Oinam Muhindro, Officer, Vigyan Mandir, Directorate of Education (S) said that the examination pattern was changed from 2021 comprising multiple choice questions for 100 marks.
Earlier, the questions were divided across five subjects for 25 marks each.
Only Class V and VIII students were eligible for the scholarship exam previously but from 2024 Class III was also deemed eligible, he said.
Students who have sat for the Class III, V and VIII exam are eligible for the scholarship exam.
Students who successfully clear the exam will undergo a verification process with a school visit after which their Aadhaar cards and bank accounts will be linked at the National Scholarship Portal.
Subsequently, their monthly scholarship amount will be credited in their bank accounts, said Oinam Muhindro.
In case the scholarship students change schools, they need to report to the concerned Government department.
Otherwise, they will stop receiving the scholarship, he maintained.
Lastly, Oinam Muhindro stressed on the need for the scholarship students to renew their NSP scholarship every year.
