State fish farmer to interact with civil service probationers at LBSNAA

Imphal, August 21 2024:
A progressive fish farmer of Manipur, Salam Rohendro Singh of Laphupat Tera, Imphal West District, has been invited to share his rich experience in fish farming to young Civil Service Probationers who are attending the 99th Foundation Course in the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie.
The three months foundation course is scheduled to commence from August 26, 2024 and culminate on November 29, 2024 .
Rohendro Singh will interact with the young civil servants from All India Services consisting officers from the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Forest Service and Central Services as well as officers from Royal Bhutan Service on the topic, "Agriculture and Allied Sector" in the last week of October, 2024 for ninety minutes.
Earlier, Rohendro Singh attended two interactive sessions at LBSNAA, Mussoorie in 2023 on the invitation of the latter and shared his journey towards transformation of a progressive fish farmer in Manipur.
Rohendro Singh is one of the pioneers of Sareng culture in Manipur.
Recently, he was in the news for creating a breakthrough in breeding of Meitei Sareng (Wallagoattu).
Notably, Rohendro Singh has received first prize in the State Level Fish Fair, 2021 organised by the Department of Fisheries, Manipur for producing the highest quantity of fish in the mela.
He was also awarded the Haricharan Das Best Progressive Fish Farmer Award in 2022 by the College of Fisheries, Lembucherra, Tripura.
Later in 2023, he was conferred the ICAR -Farmer Innovative Award in Umiam, Meghalaya for his outstanding contribution for revival of Sareng in Manipur.
