Imphal, May 20 2026:
The Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland) has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of six Zeliangrong Naga individuals from Konsaram who were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13 .
In a statement issued by its presidents Ningthaodai Gonmei and Poupoklung Kamei, along with general secretary Tadambo Newmai, the Zeliangrong organisation strongly condemned the abduction and unlawful detention.
These acts are a flagrant violation of fundamental human rights and the rule of law, the statement said, urging the relevant authorities to act without delay to secure the release of the remaining detainees.
The Government must launch an immediate, transparent, and impartial investigation into these incidents, and those responsible must be identified, prosecuted, and punished, it further urged.
It also called for immediate medical care, protection, and psychological support for the affected families.
The Zeliangrong organisation, meanwhile, stated that Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM)'s claim that the six Zeliangrong Nagas are not in their custody and that they are unaware of their whereabouts is entirely and unequivocally false.
To protest the unlawful detentions and press for urgent redress, the Zeliangrong Baudi announced that it will organise a democratic form of agitation at the earliest possible time across Zeliangrong-inhabited areas of Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur.
