MLA L Ibomcha Singh, while underscoring the need to enhance investigative journalism in the State, has appealed the scribes to carry out in-depth reporting regarding ins and outs of the Government and non-Government machinaries.
Speaking at the inauguration function of eveninger - The Imphal Times' printing house at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai today, Ibomcha said that most of the eveningers are confining its circulation in Imphal area only.
He said that eveningers must put in serious effort to expand its circulation in other parts of the State as well.
The MLA also lauded the roles and responsibilities of the State journalists.
Urging the journalists to to work with sincerity he also stressed on impartial reporting.
DIPR & MI Parliamentary Secretary K Meghachandra and AMWJU President elect Wangkhemcha Samjai were chief guest and president of the function respectively.
Keishamthong AC MLA L Ibomcha, Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykishan and Additional Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga were the
guest of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, K Meghachandra stressed on the need for journalists to adopt a dedicated and holistic approach in reporting.
Khumukcham Joykishan while speaking at the function said the journalists in the State are working with great risk in an environment which has very few people to acknowledge the contribution of the scribes.
He also assured to raise the issues being faced by the journalists to the notice of the Government.
