Thoubal, August 18 2026:
Thoudam Kanba Lup (TKL) celebrated its 6th foundation day, marking the completion of six years since its establishment, at Thoudam Public Ground, Thoudam Maning Leikai, on Monday.
The programme was attended by Khangabok AC MLA Okram Surjakumar Singh as chief guest, social worker Thoudam Bhubon Singh as functional president, and social workers Leishangthem Tiken Singh, Samurailatpam Baleshwor Sharma and Leishangthem Shanta Singh as guests of honour.
As part of the celebration, students of Tomcha Leima High School who secured outstanding marks in the Class X examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM), were felicitated in recognition of their achievement and as an encouragement to pursue further academic excellence.
The TKL also distributed its annual old-age pension to 33 senior citizens aged above 80 years from the locality.
In addition, middle-age pensions were distributed to 46 women.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Okram Suijakumar said the prevailing violence in the State and blockades along national highways had severely affected the supply of goods and commodities from outside.
He said many youths who depended on delivery services for Amazon, Flipkart and other online shopping platforms for their livelihood had lost their source of income due to the disruptions.
As a result, people across the State have been facing considerable hardship, he added.
In such a difficult situation, the efforts of TKL in extending assistance to distressed families and elderly people were highly commendable, the MLA said.
He appealed to individuals and organisations working for public welfare to extend support and cooperation of such initiatives at the Panchayat and constituency levels across the constituency.
