RIMS hosts 'MedEngage: UCEBI-2026'

The National Conference on MedEngage: Uniting Clinicians and Engineers for Biomedical Innovation (MedEngage: UCEBI-2026) commenced today at Banting Hall, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.
Envisioned as a two-day academic congregation running from February 18 to 19, 2026, the conference stands as a significant stride toward nurturing meaningful collaboration between clinicians and engineers, with the shared goal of advancing innovation in biomedical research and healthcare technology, said a release issued by RIMS.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by dignitaries, including Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS; Prof DVLN Somayajulu, Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur; Prof B Praveen Reddy, Principal, Dental College, RIMS; and Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital; and Prof L Rajesh Singh, Dean (Academics), RIMS.
Prof G Sunil Kumar inaugurated the conference, highlighting its unique approach: a joint effort by NIT Manipur, NIT Haryana, and General College to create a biomedical innovation platform.
The platform aims to bring together clinicians and engineers to tackle pressing health issues like infectious diseases, NCDs, trauma, and rural healthcare through AI-driven, affordable solutions, with a focus on student collaboration, he added.
Prof DVLN Somayajulu said MedEngage 2026, a two-day ANRF-sponsored conference by NITs and RIMS, fosters clinicianengineer collaboration in AI-driven healthcare innovation.
Aligned with national missions and Rs 500 crore healthcare AI funding, it focuses on skill development, joint degrees, projects, and partnerships, highlighting the ANRF Prime Minister Professorship award, he added.
The programme was attended by clinicians, engineers, researchers, academicians, distinguished guests, faculty members, students, and representatives from healthcare, reflecting strong interdisciplinary participation and a shared commitment to advancing biomedical innovation.
