Imphal, April 17 2026:
The Langthabal Nambul Mapal Junior School was burgled on the night of April 14, 2026, with thieves stealing mid-day meal supplies and leaving drug paraphernalia scattered in classrooms.
In a release, the Young Welfare Club (YWC), Langthabal Nambul Mapal, said unidentified persons broke into the campus and stole rice, cooking equipment, and other items, directly affecting the school's mid-day meal programme for students.
Stolen items include a 500-litre water tank, a gas cylinder, a gas stove, two bags of rice, a laptop, a printer, a projector, a speaker, a rice cooker, four stand fans, a football, and 20 compartment plates.
YWC said syringes and other drug-related debris were found inside classrooms, alleging the rooms were used as a "drug den" .
Condemning the incident, the YWC called the scene "a heart-breaking reflection of our society's current struggle", adding that the sight of syringes in a "temple of learning" was deeply disturbing.
The YWC, which has campaigned against drugs for 75 years, vowed to trace the perpetrators and warned that families of those involved would be held accountable if the culprits did not come forward.
